Savory Kale

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 medium onion–chopped
3 cloves minced garlic
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 3/4 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
1 pound bag Kale
Handful or so of sliced almonds (optional)
Handful or so of dried cranberries (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste

In a large stock pot, heat olive oil on medium high heat. Add onion and garlic. Saute until onion softens–about 5 minutes. Stir in mustard, cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil on high heat. Add kale. Cover and cook 5 minutes, stirring often. Add cranberries and continue cooking on medium high heat. Season with salt and pepper. Add almonds last.

Have I mentioned how amazing the Gingerbread bars are? Umm, I ordered NINE boxes!! If you want to try one, let me know:-) And let’s not even get started on SPARK!! Not sure if you can tell, but there are 5 boxes of the Grape pouches and 2 grape canisters and 2 boxes of the fruit punch pouches and 2 fruit punch canisters. Can you tell what our favorites are? 🙂 As I was unpacking I couldn’t resist trying for the 1st time the Tropical multivitamin chews and the DHA purple champ chews and they both did not disappoint!! So delicious and I’m thrilled to have vitamins that I know my boys will LOVE!

Friends and Family–you have to see what all these products are about. I would not be sharing if I didn’t love them myself and know and trust in AdvoCare!

Ladies Alive Nashville 2013

Yesterday I attended my very 1st Advocare event and oh my, it was life changing! If you have been considering going to a Ladies Alive (or any Advocare event), I highly recommend it. I have known for a few months now that the products are amazing and they work. I feel fantastic! But now I have had the opportunity to see what Advocare is about. I am recharged, inspired, encouraged and motivated–to spread the word about Advocare and help change people’s lives BUT to also make myself better and stronger. This weekend made ME want to be better. Thank you for that!! Here are some keywords that stand out for me: brave, warrior, united, determined, resilient, powerful, endurance, strength, hope, faith, love, desire, passionate, friendships. The first picture below is of my Advocare mentor and myself at the event. We are long time graduate school friends and we hadn’t seen each other in over 8 years!!

Turkey Chili–Advocare Challenge Friendly

I made this the I other night for my husband and myself. It had great flavor and was a nice change to some of the other foods I’ve been cooking during the 24 day challenge. It made a lot, so I froze the leftovers.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon evoo

1 small to medium red onion, chopped

1 small to medium white onion, chopped

1 large green bell pepper chopped

2 lbs lean ground turkey (at least 93% lean)

6 cloves garlic (I used already minced garlic)

1 tablespoon chili powder

6 tablespoons cumin powder

1 teaspoon ground coriander

3 cups diced fresh tomatoes

1 sodium free chicken bouillon cube dissolved in 1 cup water

1 can kidney beans

1 can tomato paste (6 oz)

1 can no salt added tomato sauce

In a large pot, saute the onions, bell pepper and garlic in the EVOO. Once onions appear translucent, stir in the ground turkey. Cook until turkey is done. Stirring frequently. Add in the chili powder, cumin and coriander. Pour in the dissolved bouillon cube in the water. Add in the beans, tomato paste, Diced tomatoes and sauce. Cook on low heat for at least 20 to 30 minutes. I let simmer for about an hour to allow all the flavors to come together.

SPARK: My favorites

I can definitely see why Spark is one of Advocare’s best sellers. As an avid coffee drinker and lover, it has been an easy transition from coffee to Spark. While I did give up coffee completely during my two pregnancies, other than that, I NEVER went without it. And I am sure I will have coffee again, but I must say that I am enjoying and welcoming the switch to Spark! So far into our 24day challenge, my husband and I have had the Mandarin Orange Spark, Watermelon, Fruit Punch, Grape and Cherry Flavors. My least favorites are the Mandarin Orange Spark. For me personally, I will probably only have this flavor when mixing with the fiber drink during the cleanse phase. And then this morning I tried cherry for the first time and thought it was just okay. My favorites are watermelon and fruit punch and then my TOP favorite so far is without a doubt the……

GRAPE SPARK!!! It was sooooo good and yummy!! I can’t wait to have another one and so, when I enjoy something as much as I did the grape spark, it makes giving up the coffee that much easier!!!
